Saffron Academy Trust

Honywood School joined Saffron Academy Trust (SAT) in September 2019 because it was keen to join forces with a family of schools who believe that ‘every child deserves a great education’.  SAT was delighted to welcome Honywood because it is clear that the school is a very special place indeed.

In the time that James Saunders has been Headteacher, the school has flourished.  It has strengthened its commitment to preparing children to take their place in society as confident, well-informed, articulate, and self-motivated young men and women.  It has also enriched the curriculum offer, smartened up uniform and placed new emphasis on keeping the school an orderly, calm, and safe place in which to learn.  It is something you really notice as you walk around the school.  It has become something of a ‘gem’ of a local school and is more than worthy of its Ofsted rating of ‘Good’.

The learners I meet are so proud to be part of the Honywood community.  One of the best features of the school is the wonderful relationships that staff foster with learners. The school gives the impression of a warm and caring family unit.  Coggeshall is so lucky to have Honywood on its doorstep.

As part of Saffron Academy Trust, the school shares training and development with a team of other great schools in Braintree and Uttlesford, all working together and learning from each other in a virtuous circle of improvement.  Being part of SAT offers some unique opportunities to Honywood learners: chances to participate in music and arts events at Saffron Hall with professional musicians, for example.

Whether you are a prospective parent, a current parent/carer, a member of staff, you are looking for a position at this school or you are interested in Honywood in another professional capacity, I hope the website gives you a flavour of what this wonderful school has to offer.
